Session 1 October 8, 2015

The first part of our meeting mimicked a TBL activity. Participants read Billie Francini’s handout on TBL, then took a Readiness Assessment Test. They then broke into teams and did an IF/AT.

Afterward, we talked about the structure of a TBL-based course and how that structure could be modified to fit the types of courses we teach. We also talked about the logistics of doing TBL, and I shared a link to a peer evaluation form I developed for my students.

Participants were asked to try our TBL and report their experiences at our next meeting at 3pm on November 12th.

In February 2015, Billie Franchini of SUNY Albany presented at KCTL’s annual Winter Workshop. Some of her material is accessible, only to KCC faculty, on our facebook group.
Building on the interest generated by her workshop, KCTL started the Team-Based Learning FIG in Spring 2015. Some participants of that FIG were thinking about stepping into the TBL pool, while some of us dove right in!
